Episode 2 where we discuss all things MCU on Netflix (including shows that haven’t even dropped yet!)
Next up some definitions to help you figure out what the hell this podcast is all about (however, I recommend you give a listen to our Episode 0 for a deeper understanding: https://elevatingthegenre.wordpress.com/2016/09/16/episode-0/):
Morrison’s original definition of “Elevated Genre”:
Genre films that tackle “hi-concept” sci-fi concepts on a limited budget focusing on character and “reality” with the concept relegated to the background of the movie. As opposed to a big budget blockbuster where the concept becomes the driving force of the film.
Elevating the Genre Podcast working definition:
Any element in any “genre” (re: geek) piece of IP/story that raises that piece (or a moment or element in the piece) above the normal expectations of that genre.
(These will be the last week for the above definitions.)
Please don’t forget we are always open to suggestions to what you want us to kick around as a topic. Please see the “Suggestion Box” post for that (or feel free to leave a comment below with some ideas.) https://elevatingthegenre.wordpress.com/2016/09/16/first-blog-post/
